My name is Jimmy Peña and I run this website. It has been around since November 2007, when I was looking for some Outlook code and found a blog post by Aaron Lerch about how to redirect an email thread in Outlook 2007. I took the code and adapted it for Outlook 2003, and got a few inquiries about the code. So I decided to create a website and post the code, and it went on from there.

Both the website and the blog are run using WordPress as a CMS. It makes site management much easier, and I strongly recommend anyone considering a website of their own to do the same. I use Genesis as a theme framework.

My main hobby is taking Excel and Outlook and trying to make difficult tasks easier. It's a passion, or perhaps an obsession. I have been developing code for Excel and Outlook for a few years. Lately I've been playing with Java and VB.NET (2008) as well. In case you were wondering, I don't have any formal training in programming; I am completely self-taught and self-motivated. I took a computer class (BASIC programming) when I was 14, and flunked. :P Now, after six years out of college, I will be returning in October 2008 to acquire an AS in Computer Science online at Jamestown Community College.

If you enjoy what you see on the site, or have any suggestions for content (or find any errors), please let me know. I am always looking to improve the site, so any helpful suggestions are welcome. If you want to read new content as it's created, subscribe to the RSS feed.

My 'offline' hobbies include playing soccer/frisbee/tennis and video games with my 8 y.o. son, and carrying my 8 month old on my shoulders. And going to the beach, although I wish it was less crowded sometimes. I also enjoy looking for Japanese game shows for my iPod (Banzuke!), building and fixing computers, and listening to music (power metal, classic metal, classic rock, hair metal, and [Baroque] classical music). I play electric guitar and have been doing so for the last 13 years. See above for style.

My favorite drink is Johnnie Walker (Black) although I have been known to drink Stoli (plain) from time to time. ;)

I live and work in New York City, and have been doing so all my life. In addition to VBA programming, I also do spyware removal, new PC hardware installation and new computer building, so if you are in the NYC metro area and would like a price quote, please contact me. If you need a custom VBA solution, see my project page for details.

Believe it or not, I installed Office 2003 this year (this is July 2008). And based on writeups like Why I don't like Excel 2007 Charts and Excel 2007 recalculates slowly, it'll be a while before I move on to Office 2007. Although for development purposes I have just installed Excel 2007 and in January of 2011 I plan on adding Excel 2010.

I am also an occasional guest poster on the Professional Office Developer Association Blog.

If you would like to contact me, please do so from the contact page. If you are writing about a project, use this contact form.
