Excel 2010 Function Improvements

In Going Back to the Topic of Functions For a Moment…, Excel Program Manager Joseph Chirilov posted a PDF containing information about improved functions in Excel 2010. These changes were introduced in a previous post on the same blog. Some functions have new names to make the interface more consistent, while others are becoming more accurate.

There are a few functions I'm most concerned with that supposedly will have a better algorithm. I've used all the other functions a combined total of 0 times.

Improved Functions in Excel 2010:

  • MOD
  • RAND
  • CEILING

The problem is, the PDF attached to the blog post doesn't explain exactly how these functions will be improved. I did find a reference to bugs in the MOD function, but didn't find anything for the other two, and I can't confirm if the Mod bug is fixed in Excel 2010. So we'll have to wait and see if any explanation is forthcoming.
