Stop shotgunning those emails

According to Wikipedia, shotgun email refers to

an e-mail requesting information or action that only requires the efforts of one person but is sent to multiple people in an effort to guarantee that at least one person will respond.

Here is a bit of VBA that can remind you when you click Reply To All and allow you the chance to cancel the email.

The Microsoft Exchange Team Blog has a two part series on how to disable the Reply To All functionality using MS Exchange. Yikes.

To me, it seems like an organizational disease or culture problem when you have to resort to blocking the feature at the Exchange level.

The ultimate in lazy emailing?

Lately I've been getting tired of writing a greeting line in every message I send (50-60 per day).

I know that writing someone's name (or a greeting line like "Hello") seems trivial, but it adds up when you send as many emails as I do. It just gets annoying and tiring, especially if you don't mean it :)
