The Census is coming!

And here is my attempt at representing.

For your approval, this post contains a link to the last few years of census data from the U.S. Census Bureau, along with a simple PivotTable and chart.

After creating the flag chart, I decided to go a bit further and download the last few years' worth of census data.

The Data

A web query was unsuccessful, so I manually cut and pasted the data into Excel. I also found a website with each of the 50 state flags and put them on the sheet as well. They don't really do anything, but it looks nice. I'm sure someone with a bit more design sense could do something with it.

Top Ten PivotTable and Chart

The PivotTable sorts and filters the census data, leaving only the top ten results. The resulting chart has been sorted in reverse order to list the more populous states at the top. I also decreased the gap width and formatted the population totals using a custom number format found at Number Formats in Microsoft Excel.
